Controller

Overview:

The person in this position will be responsible for the accounting, finance and human resource operations of Safco LLC.  This responsibility includes production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of adequate systems of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company’s reporting in compliance with GAAP and positive cash management of the company. 

Qualifications:

  • College degree required with a concentration in acccounting
  • CPA Required
  • 5-10 years experience as an accounting manager or controller in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong cost accounting experience
  • History of working with small company ERP/MRP systems
  • Some experience/exposure to Human Resource issues within a manufacturing company
  • Intelligent, intuitive, tenacious, able to deal effectively with ambiguity
  • Exceptional ability to develop relationships with diverse individuals
  • Ambitious self-starter; high energy level and motivation to make things happen

Specific Responsibilities:

Management

  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Perform the daily transaction accounting for the company
    • Ensure invoices are processed and posted on a timely basis
    • Ensure accounts payable are paid on a timely basis
    • Ensure accounts receivables are collected promptly
    • Process payroll in a timely and accurate manner
    • Ensure payroll tax deposits & payroll taxes are made and submitted on a timely basis
    • Perform periodic bank reconciliation
    • Ensure required debt payments are made on a timely basis
    • Maintain an accurate general ledger and chart of accounts
    • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  • Oversee the company 401K Plan administration
  • Establish good working relationship with company bankers, health insurance brokers, commercial insurance brokers and outside auditors

Reporting

  • Issue timely, complete and accurate financial statements
  • Perform financial analysis and issue financial and operational metrics
  • Manage the production of annual budgets and forecasts
  • Analyze, assess and calculate variances in budgets and operations and communicate issues to management

Compliance

  • Coordinate the annual financial statement review and tax filings with external auditor
  • Monitor debt levels and compliance with various bank agreements
  • Comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
